A cat litter box cabinet is a great multipurpose piece of furniture that hides away unsightly litter boxes while satisfying your cat’s needs.
Your cat is sure to like it too, since it gives them more privacy when they’re doing their business.

Cats are sensitive to change, however, so gradually getting them used to having their litter box in a cabinet might be a good idea. We recommend keeping the cabinet door open initially until your cat is comfortable with going in the box on their own through the entry hole. Of course, you know your cat(s) better than we do, so introduce the cabinet to your furry friends as you see fit.
Keep Out!
Most of the cabinets we’ve reviewed here have a ‘door in a door.’ Basically, a ‘cat hole’ will let your cat go in and out of the cabinet as they wish, but the hole is framed within a cabinet door. Having cabinet doors means you can get in the box easily for scooping litter and keeping things clean.
It may be a little awkward to mention, but other pets (like dogs) in your house might like cat litter, and you definitely don’t want them in it when you’re not looking. A litter cabinet gives your kitty more privacy when doing their business, and the cat-sized entry hole means your dog won’t be able to get at the litter.
To further ensure your dog or other pets can’t get in, most of the doors in these cabinets have been reinforced with magnets. The cabinet doors will only open when you want them to!
A Quick Note on Cleaning
A litter cabinet keeps stray litter and mess contained, which might just mean less sweeping for you, but you’ll still want to fully clean these cabinets often if you end up buying one. A few of these cabinets are made of a durable plastic, which means they won’t absorb urine or odors as easily as a solid wood cabinet.
As we said earlier, you know your cat more than anyone, but we still suggest setting ‘puppy pads’ or sealing off any inner edges on the inside of these cabinets. Doing such things will surely make regular cleanups quicker and less of a hassle for you.
Cat Litter Box Cabinet Reviews
Litter Box Enclosure by Arf Pets
This multipurpose cat litter box won’t be an eyesore in your home.
This cabinet-end table opens to two compartments (one for a bag of cat litter and the other for a litter box) though the divider can be removed to make a single large compartment.
A framed hole on the larger compartment side means your cat can go in and out of the cabinet at their own free will.
Available in both espresso and a classic white, this wooden cabinet can serve as both a discreet cat litter box and place to set your television, books, or tabletop lamps.
Pros
- An attractive and normal-looking piece of furniture, so visitors mightn’t even notice it’s actually a litter box.
- Cabinet doors provide easy access to a litter box for cleaning, and the removable divider means this cabinet has some storage space.
- The cat entrance is cat-sized, which means your other pets (like dogs) won’t be able to get at the litter box and its contents easily.
Cons
- This is a piece of ready-to-assemble furniture. It may take some time and effort to set up.
- Beyond the entrance for your cat, this cabinet has no vents or air holes for circulation. This cabinet might be pretty, but it will probably start to stink after your cat does their business a couple times.
- This cabinet litter box is the most expensive of the ones we’ve reviewed here.
Plant Hidden Litter Box by Good Pet Stuff
Like plants? This discreet litter box might be for you. Unlike the other cabinets listed here, this one is designed to look like a large potted plant.
This litter box is made of durable polypropylene plastic and has a vented filter to capture dust and odors.
Fully set up with the plant on top, this cabinet measures about 42 inches (107 centimeters) in height.
It is suitable for use with larger cats and/or households with multiple cats.
Pros
- A unique design and shape make this little box cabinet even more discreet than the other ones we’ve reviewed here.
- Great for larger cats or multi-cat families.
- The vents will keep the air in this cabinet circulating decently to reduce excessive odors.
Cons
- The plastic pot may be colored like real clay, but it certainly doesn’t pass for it. You may want to spray paint the pot to a different color of your choice.
- Sometimes cats like plants too much, both real ones and fake ones. Ingesting bits of the plastic plant or ‘grass’ in this pot could cost you and your cat a trip to the vet.
Wooden Cat Home and Litter Box Enclosure by Trixie Pet Products
This cute little cabinet looks like a log cabin for your best kitty friend.
This litter box (or sleeping) cabinet has air holes in the back to keep the whole thing well ventilated, while the flat top also makes it a handy accent table.
The cat hole in the front will allow your cat easy access to their bed or litter box, while the cabinet’s magnetic door will keep other pets out.
This wooden cabinet would look great in your bathroom, den, or living room!
Pros
- Looks like a cute little cabin, and suitable for either a cozy cat bed or litter box holder. It would look great just about anywhere in the home.
- The cabinet door has a magnetic closure, keeping curious cats, dogs, and other pets from opening it easily. Your cat will only enter from the house-shaped hole in the cabinet door.
- Available in espresso, white, or grey wood to suit your tastes and house décor.
Cons
- Smaller inner compartment means you’ll probably still see the inside of the litter box while passing by this cabinet.
- Not suitable for larger cats or multi-cat families.
Designer Cat Litter Box & Storage Bench by Unipaws
This wooden litter cabinet looks like a bench that you might keep in the entryway to store mittens, hats, and shoes, or perhaps to sit on while tying your shoes. Instead of mittens, this cabinet will keep your cat’s business in a contained and discreet space. There are two compartments in the cabinet, similar to Arf Pets’ cabinet. Instead of storage space, however, the extra cupboard is just a way to hide away your cat’s litter box further out of sight. However, the divider isn’t necessary and can be easily removed to accommodate larger cats.
Pros
- Also available in a smaller version that looks like the end table cabinet by New Age Pet (listed below). The bench size is available in 3 different colors.
- The unique bench-style of this cabinet would look great anywhere in your home.
- Suitable for larger cats and multi-cat households if the divider is removed.
- Relatively easy to assemble, and just requires a Phillips screwdriver to complete.
Cons
- The inner divider seems a little arbitrary. Arf Pets’ divider gives you separate storage space, but Unipaws divider just ‘hides’ your cat’s litter box a little more than the other cabinets listed here.
- Doesn’t have any small holes for ventilation.
Litter Loo by New Age Pet
This cabinet can serve as both an attractive end table and a litter box (or bed) for your cat.
It’s made of ecoFlex, a plastic and reclaimed wood mix that won’t absorb any moisture or odors, even if your cat misses their litter box. This makes it easy to wipe down and deep clean. However, you may want to seal the nooks and crannies of the inner cabinet.
Open ‘windows’ along the sides of the Litter Loo means the litter box inside will be well-ventilated. The Litter Loo is designed to fit a standard-sized litter box. If you have a larger and/or self-cleaning one, New Age Pet sells a larger version of this cabinet.
Pros
- Magnets in the cabinet door will keep it solidly shut unless you open it.
- The ecoFlex material won’t absorb moisture, so urine and odors won’t seep into the cabinet.
- Easy to assemble, clean, and available in 4 different colors and 2 sizes.
Cons
- Not suitable for multi-cat households. The standard-sized box is too small for larger cats.
- Might need something on the floor of the cabinet to catch kitty litter and spills.
Our Favourite
Out of the litter box cabinets we’ve reviewed here, our favorite is the Litter Loo by New Age Pet. We like this cabinet because it’s as functional as it is pretty, and would look great just about anywhere you plunk it down in your home.
There are decent ‘windows’ for ventilation, unlike Arf Pets and Unipaws’ cabinets. Trixie Pet Products’ cabinet is similar to the Litter Loo, but we prefer the Litter Loo because it’s a bit larger. Though the standard size Litter Loo is a bit on the smaller size for bigger cats, they sell a ‘jumbo-sized’ Litter Loo to make up for it.
The deal-breaker, with the Litter Loo, is what it’s made of ecoFlex, a plastic-wood combo. This means liquids like cat urine won’t soak into it as it could with regular wood or particleboard. The Litter Loo can handle everyday life and the occasional accident, which means it’s easy to clean and built to last.
Regardless of which cat litter box cabinet you decide to buy, we hope both you and your cat will like it!
